International Institute of Welding appoints African as member of the Board of Directors

                           Professor Paul Kah (right) joined by some of his friends: Dr Cecile Mayer (middle) and Dr Emmanuel Afrane Gyasi (left) The International Institute of Welding (IIW) made history during its 75 th  Annual Assembly and International Conference in Japan when the General Assembly agreed by consensus to appoint Professor Paul Kah of Cameroon as a member of the Board of Directors (BoD). Professor Paul Kah is the first indigenous African to hold such a high-level position in IIW. Texas State University hosts Women of Welding camp

  Texas State University’s Department of Agricultural Sciences hosted its first Women of Welding Camp July 18-22, 2022. The camp was open to high school females going into their sophomore, junior, or senior year and interested in a career in the welding industry. The students learned about bills of materials, blueprints, and metal processing and participated in numerous lecture and hands-on classes, including oxyacetylene, GMAW, SMAW, and FCAW. They also attended presentations by several industry experts, including Diane Nielsen, Voestalpine Bohler Welding USA; Stephanie Hajducek, a design lead/project engineer for The Chemours Co. and founder of This One’s for the Gals organization; Heather Roussere, lead instructor at Arclabs welding school; Brooke Williams, CWI, a welder, welding educator, and business owner; Stephanie Hoffman, owner of UnderGround Metal Works; and Courtney Noppe, CFO for R&N Mfg.
